This is a beautiful park. There are picnic tables, pavilions, charcoal grills, and plenty of shade and space to spread out. Perfect for a casual visit or birthday party. The playground is large and consists of two levels, with equipment for younger and older children. The water and wildlife are beautiful. We love walking the trails and watching the ducks and other feathered, furred, or scaled friends. There are also paddleboats for rent, a public restroom, a zip line, and a small fishing pier.

LOVE this place! It's absolutely wonderful. The park is quite large with playgrounds, beach volleyball, hiking, boating, and fishing. Plenty of space for large groups. We hosted my nephews birthday party and a family reunion here years ago. Lots of covered areas and pavilions available. This time I walked the trail around the entire lake for the first time and it was phenomenally relaxing. Not difficult at all but there are a few hills and sections where you have to be more conscious of where and how you step. The lake and boathouse (rentals and light refreshments available) are at the rear of the park. So bypass the first parking lot and drive all the way to the back if the lake is what you're looking for.

1st time here, our kids loved the playground with a kid zip line. Beautiful scenery. Pavilions and picnic tables. Not a very big park but perfect for gatherings.

My favorite park in Charles County. This place has something for everyone. A great trail that circles around the lake for a nice walk. The full circle is just over two miles. It’s a combination of dirt trails and boardwalks. Parts of the trail are some what hilly with quite a few big tree roots so watch your step. If you start on the right side it’s a easier path and you can turn around at the beaver colony observatory boardwalk for a more casual stroll. I take my dog all of the time so they are allowed but please clean up after your dog. There is a large lake that you can fish in that is stocked by the county. Catfish and trout. You can rent paddle boats or canoes from spring to fall. Plus a concession stand and public bathrooms. You can also bring your own kayak etc.. but only electric motors are permitted. If you don’t have a boat there are two large piers and a few smaller ones scattered around the lake as well. For the young ones they’re is a large playground area. There are large pavilions that seem to be rented for birthday parties more often than not on the weekends. There is plenty of smaller pavilions with picnic tables and built in grills, plus open flat grass areas for picnics. There is also a volleyball net, corn hole boards and several different parking lots. Not that I ever did it but rumor has it there are a couple of fun hills to sled ride on when it snows but again not sure how the park feels about that. 🤷‍♂️

Very nice park! The pavilion area over by the lake has a beautiful view. Just wished they could wipe down the tables, clean out cob webs and prevent birds from making nest in the pavilion areas. The webs gets all on your clothes from under the tables and the birds were not happy with us being near their nests lol. We rented paddle boats and really enjoyed it. The staff was very nice and helpful. Overall a great park!

Hey you guys! Being from NY, we have parks that are quite stunning. But depending where in NY you live, you have to travel a distance just to get to nature. So, I’m taken aback on how lucky you guys are to have so many natural parks nearby. I visited Gilbert’s Run and loved it! ❤️ If you're looking for a serene and picturesque spot for your next photo shoot or simply a place to unwind and connect with nature, Gilbert's Run is a must-visit destination. I recently had the pleasure of spending an afternoon at this breathtaking park, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the beauty of the surroundings-I’d have to travel really far to see something like this in NY. The lush greenery, tranquil waterways, and colorful wildlife all combined to create a peaceful and serene atmosphere that instantly put me at ease. Whether you're seeking a quiet spot for meditation or just want to go for a leisurely stroll and take in the fresh air, Gilbert's Run has everything you need to relax and rejuvenate. One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to rent one of their paddle boats. It was a fun and unique way to explore the park and take in the stunning scenery from a different perspective. The paddle boats were easy to use and suitable for all ages, making them a great option for families and groups. But don’t fall into the water! My fiancé said there are snakes in it! Yikes! Overall, I would highly recommend Gilbert's Run to anyone looking for a tranquil and picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With its stunning natural beauty, fun activities, and peaceful atmosphere, it's the perfect spot. Whether you're looking to capture some amazing photos or just need to recharge your batteries, this park has it all. So don't hesitate - plan your visit to Gilbert's Run today and prepare to be amazed!
